Jun 20, 2016 - Tesla Motors, Inc. (NASDAQ:TSLA) CEO Elon Musk has made some bold statements about production for the firm. While the company manufactured about 50,000 vehicles last year, and appears to be on track to hit 80,000 - 90,000 this year, Musk shocked everyone when he raised his guidance for 2018 to 500,000 vehicles. Analysts had already been doubting the ambitious jump to half a million cars by 2020, but when the Model 3 demand so far exceeded everyone's forecasts, Musk pushed that half a million number up two-year earlier. A more cynical view could be that Musk sees competition ramping up from Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) and rumors of the Apple Car have gone from curious to just about fact.

Jun 15, 2016 - Alphabet Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOGL) dominates the digital advertising landscape driven primarily its Google Search. But the company is pursuing so many other transformational themes it's almost impossible to keep track of. The company has a booming e-commerce business that will soon compete with Amazon.com Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN). It has announced a new social media network to compete with Facebook Inc. (NASDAQ:FB), it's pushing full throttle on the technology behind artificial super intelligence and self-driving cars. It's pursuing artificial intelligence with Google Dream. Alphabet is even pursuing a connected home with Google Home and a further push into artificial intelligence with "Tango." It's pushing the envelope with the fastest growing segment of media in the world, which is online video. You Tube has more viewers aged 18-49 on mobile alone than any U.S. broadcast or cable network. That's an exhausting list, but now we have one more to add. Alphabet aims to be the largest high speed Internet provider in t

But then suppliers reportedly had to ramp up production on the iPhone 7 due to pent up demand that, if true, vastly outpaced forecasts. Now, breaking news comes from Apple, or really from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, is stunning.
Jun 14, 2016 - Although there were whispers, what Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) just confirmed in its WWDC conference surrounding Apple Pay is nothing short of explosive.

Apple announced, as expected, that Apple Pay usage would be extended to its Safari mobile browser. This makes it possible for people to shop online with the iPhone and iPad. But, in what IBD considered a surprise, but what CML Pro announced more than a month ago, Apple also introduced a "Pay with Apple Pay" for Mac users. That's a direct competition with PayPal, Visa and MasterCard.
